Inter County Primary Schools Match - Swansea / Abertawe - Wednesday 17th July / Dydd Mercher 17eg Gorffennaf

The annual Dyfed v West Glamorgan Inter County Primary Schools Athletics match this year was hosted by West Glamorgan at Swansea University Athletics Track, Ashleigh Road on Wednesday afternoon, the same venue where the cross country fixture was held back at the beginning of April. This friendly meeting has now become a fantastic event on the annual calendar, giving young athletes from across West Wales the chance to compete at county level.

All those that took part in the competition were selected to run, jump and throw after finishing in the top 4 at the respective Dyfed Primary Schools and West Glamorgan Primary Schools events in Carmarthen and Swansea in June and early July.

With the heavy showers forecast staying away until later on in the evening, this attracted a good number of spectators to the venue to watch and support the 100 children or so that took to the track and competed in the field.

Events on the evening included the 100m, 70m Hurdles, 800m, 4 x 100m Relay, Long Jump, Shot Put and High Jump with medals awarded to the top three presented by Swansea Harriers' very own Nathan James, who is a regular at our open throws meetings.

Congratulations to those from both districts that contributed to the cross country and athletics fixtures in making sure that they were again very successful in 2019; we look forward to next season. Our thanks to all those who spent hours and days putting on all the qualifying and group matches during the year which led to this final event as well as those who supported Wednesday's event, it wouldn't have been possible without them!
